I was born in Adelaide, but have spent most of my life in Melbourne where I studied Fine Art, majoring in painting and printmaking. I have been painting landscapes for over 30 years; my work has featured in exhibitions both locally and overseas, and I have won awards both in Australia and internationally.
My paintings have always been centred on changing weather; as the oldest and hte second driest continent on earth, Australia has always been the focus of extreme weather, which is central to my creative vision. In this era dominated by climatic change, I choose to create works which constitute a dichotomy; they draw attention to the severity of the weather experienced with climate change while at the same time, celebrate the beauty and fragility of the landscape which is so unique to Australia.
My recent exhbitions, including those in London and Florence, can be viewed on my website at www.steffiewallacevisualart.com.
