Edna May by Hilary Christie
ARTIST NOTES: Edna May (1916 - 2016) was the daughter of a horseman and was raised on a farm in Tothill Creek, South Australia. Her father would have the horses tow the family car up a hill and then push start it down the slope. Having tired from this task, he handed over the keys to Edna in her early teens and she would drive the family to church, without the need to push start.
Edna travelled to Queensland and eventually settled in Adelaide. She was a fabulous dress maker and a wonderful Aunty. She wrote me letters every few weeks, addressed to "My favourite girlfriend."
Forever missed.
